TWO DIFFERENT ROADS… Hear Jim Smith & Les Davidson share their stories in words and in songs! At 16, Jim Smith auditioned for Cat Stevens. His taste for drink and drugs made sure that this opportunity evaporated – along with literally dozens of others. In contrast, Les Davidson turned down an opportunity to hit the big-time with a band he didn’t believe in to pursue windier skies alone. A highly successful supporting artiste on guitar, Les toured the world with high profile performers. While Jim’s life became completely unmanageable and almost ended by his own hand, Les became a ‘success’ for all to see. As he is the first to admit, he was a ‘functioning alcoholic’ for many years. He kept the alcohol and cocaine use in some sort of balance, year after year. Then his life came unglued, too. Yet today both lead clean, honest and worthwhile lives. What makes their experience so valuable - and their musical presentation so unique - are its raw honesty, its palpable authenticity and the obvious purity of its good intentions. According to Jim, “We’ve been working as a duo for quite a while. No two gigs are exactly the same. We just tell our stories simply and honestly. We usually play the same series of songs – to a different audience every time. That seems to add a whole new dimension to it. The music seems to touch emotions that words alone cannot reach. People tend to be totally focused and often visibly moved.”
