Counselling Services Assessments: Each client is placed with the most appropriate counsellor or therapist and a plan of treatment specifically designed to suit individual needs is created. It is fundamental that upon referral (by ones self, or a third party) the client undergoes an initial consultation intended solely to establish how best to move forward. This usually comprises of an informal meeting between the client and a counsellor, in which two way conversation and observation provide the required information. It may sometimes be necessary to take a medical history and perhaps liaise with the client’s physician, and confidentiality in this area is always maintained. Individual Counselling: Experts in a range of fields provide one to one sessions. Addiction, eating disorders and relationship issues are to name but a few of the areas in which we specialise. Individual counselling is a facility which offers the client an opportunity to take a step back and receive support as they make the transition from their current situation into a better way of living. Family Counselling: Education and support is offered to family members of individuals experiencing difficulties. The focus of this style of treatment is to provide the tools for coping with their personal family circumstances and to motivate recovery. Group Therapy: A fundamental provision of this service is to fracture the isolation of individuals and provide an appropriate forum in which to work together to solve a common problem. This style of treatment is particularly helpful in re-teaching its participants about healthy interaction with others. Adolescent Counselling: This service has been developed in response to a growing awareness of the number of young people today who will benefit from counselling or therapy when they encounter difficulties on their path. It can be offered off-site, on school premises, where required. By addressing issues early on, individuals have the best chance of proceeding into a fulfilling, happy and healthy adulthood. Intervention (How to help those who don’t want help): The primary goal of this service is to secure immediate help for sufferers of addictive or compulsive disorders. It concentrates on education and communication, with a commitment to helping concerned individuals in the procedure for intervening on the patient. In addition it works to direct each member involved in the intervention, into his or her own process of recovery. Aftercare: Aftercare offers ongoing support following primary treatment. Particularly in the early days of recovery, individuals may be prone to relapse, and a continued plan of care is a means of taking action to build upon and secure recovery. Referrals: All referrals are welcomed at the McLellan Practice, through both private and non-private channels, and our counsellors and therapists are covered by a number of medical insurance companies. In turn, the McLellan Practice will refer to a broad range of reputable treatment facilities. |
